KhatzuMemo Cellphone Drive

Friends, Romans, countrymen. I’ve had isolated reports from some people of KhatzuMemo not working on their phones. This is serious, not least because KhatzuMemo is all about…working on people’s phones.

So for the purposes of helping everyone out, if you use, have used, or have tried to use KhatzuMemo on your cellphone, please, by way of comment on this post, let everyone know the [provider], [make and model] of the cellphone you use. Here is an example of how you might do it.

[Softbank][Sharp 904SH][OK]

In the case that KhatzuMemo doesn’t work on your cellphone, please feel free to share that information, too. Like so:

[Provider][Make and model][NG][symptoms, e.g. "login page fine, but afterwards blank"]

“OK” is for if it works. “NG” (no good) for if it doesn’t. If it doesn’t work, describe, if you can, what happens.

[Update: This problem has been fixed].

Donate to AJATT and lose ten pounds INSTANTLY! Haha...gotta love that currency humor. It's kind of like when you go to a friend: "System Of A Down are Armenian! I'll bet you ten bucks!" and then you win the bet, but he turns around and goes: "'buck' is not a currency!"...yeah...why are you even gambling anyway?

      I tried some more…
Direct access to userhome.php works, also the add Items function. Obviously the question.php cannot be displayed.

No problem… as I recently finished my kanjis, of course I want to see your KhatzuMemo working ;) . If you need something to be tested, you can contact me (you should be able to see my mail address). Good luck! :)

[Telstra][Palm Treo 750][OK] – Slightly modified to display Japanese characters. Using Internet Explorer.

Quick question: I just imported my Mnemosyne XML file into Khatzumemo. Does it import the schedule as well? Or only the Q/A data?

      Thanks!

As an unrelated issue, I always get a \ before an apostrophe when I’m adding sentences, e.g. type in “I don’t want to go anywhere.” and it’s saved as “I don\’t want to go anywhere.” Editing it later makes no difference. This happens no matter what I use to view the site.

      @ddddave
Currently only QA data. We are starting work on a common format for KhatzuMemo and Mnemosyne soon.

Just out of curiosity for everyone having trouble displaying the KhatzuMemo question page…are your phone browsers able to handle JavaScript? [There is no JavaScript in KhatzuMemo right now, but I would consider using it if it were a viable fix...now that I think about it that might not solve things either. Anyway, whatever...Let me know 8) ]

[Verizon][LG VX8300][NG][login page works, following pages are blank. a scrollbar is seen on the right side indicating there may be some content on the page (even though it's blank) but it just beeps if you try to scroll. the browser says it's still on login.php. navigating to question.php directly produces the same results.]

As a side note, http://www.asahi.com displays on the phone, even though the contents are mojibake. (For a while I was wondering if the mere presence of Japanese was what was causing it to freak out.)

(Not trying to be a squeaky wheel by posting this under two separate blog entries, but I thought you’d appreciate having all of these reports in one place.)

Everyone who is having trouble. Have you tried updating your cellphone browsers to their respective latest versions?

    17. Prom said,

      December 13, 2007 @ 07:27

      Look at this: http://developer.openwave.com/dvl/tools_and_sdk/phone_simulator/choosing.htm
There you can download simulators for my mobile browser. On my mobile phone, I have Openwave v. 6.2.0.10.1, but I downloaded the simulator for version 7, where the question.php also isn’t working. I think the simulator is a great way for you to debug, as it has a console and it stops here:
      Content-Type: text/html
      <meta http-equiv=”refresh” content=”0; url=question.php”
So maybe the refresh function isn’t working.

    18. Prom said,

      December 13, 2007 @ 07:33

      Sorry for double-posting.
When accessing question.php directly, the last line is this one:
      <meta http-equiv=”refresh” content=”0; url=imagemessagepage.php”

    19. scout said,

      December 13, 2007 @ 09:00

      @Prom
Thanks for doing the leg work finding the simulator. Looks like my phone is also using Openwave. Here’s the information from the about page:

Mobile Browser 6.2.3.2 (LGE-VX8300/1.0) Universal Edition
      (c)1995-2006 Openwave Systems Inc.

Try the DEVELOPMENT VERSION of KhatzuMemo. It looks to be working on OpenWave 6.2.2. (at least the question.php).

I just tried using khatzumemo for the first time a few weeks ago. I imported my japanese sentences from mnemosyne, and started going through them again. now, the only question it asks me is
chikai desu ka?(sorry, can’t type japanese on my phone, only view it)
I have tried logging in several different days, and have answered that card probably a few dozen times. I have plenty more entries, as it says I do. I’m using the htc apache(verizon 6700)

btw, I just tried using it on my computer in firefox, and have the same issue. I guess it’s not a problem with my phone after all. now what do I do? I want to break free from my computer.
