What happened?
To make a long story short, this site got accidentally deleted! If there is one lesson for both me and my former webhost to take away from this, it’s that you need to make backups from the beginning, rather than postpone them to some nebulous future time.
The loss of time and data had the potential to be dangerously frustrating, but the whole incident has turned out to be a good opportunity to (a) switch from a somewhat problematic webhost to a much more highly regarded web hosting service, and (b) to keep backups!
A lot of the content will be back up on Saturday, October 14.
